If you are like me, and you run your own business or find yourself in a fast paced career, you absolutely need to invest in wellbeing.
I completed my first 5km run (and first run) for this year over the weekend. It felt great to be out and about! I’ve had quite a few mental- and physical health challenges to face the past couple of years. IT WAS TOUGH. I finally feel like I can breathe again (quite literally)!
Health is wealth indeed!
So, what’s the difference between Wellness and Wellbeing?
Wellness = Your physical health. It refers to having the ability and energy to do all the things you want to or need to do. Wellness (or physical wellbeing) forms part of your overal wellbeing. Your wellness is mainly affected by your lifestyle habits – what you eat, physical activity and sleep.
Wellbeing on the other hand is a much broader view of your life. Gallup’s global research has found five areas of wellbeing to consider:
- Career (Purpose) Wellbeing
- Social Wellbeing
- Financial Wellbeing
- Physical Wellbeing (also known as wellness)
- Community Wellbeing
If you suffer in one of these areas, it will have a ripple effect into the other areas. When I work with you as your coach, part of what we do is measure your own wellbeing and look at ways to improve your wellbeing (or your team’s wellbeing).
